Our Story

About Connections Hint

We built the hint site we always wished existed — no fluff, no spoilers you didn't ask for, real analysis.

I.

What We Do

Connections Hint publishes daily hints and answers for NYT Connections — one of the most popular word puzzles on the internet, with millions of players solving every day.

Most hint sites hand you the answer immediately or bury it under paragraphs of filler text. We do neither. Our system gives you three levels of hints in increasing specificity, so you reveal only as much as you actually need.

We also publish what we call Today's Traps — a breakdown of the specific words the puzzle designers used to mislead you, and exactly why they work. That kind of analysis doesn't exist anywhere else.

II.

Our Team

Connections Hint is run by a small team of word game enthusiasts who have been solving NYT Connections daily since its launch in June 2023. We started this site because we wanted a hint experience that actually respected the puzzle — one that lets you decide exactly how much help you need.

How Our Hints Are Written

Each day's content goes through a deliberate three-stage review before publishing. Our editorial process is built around one rule: a Level I hint should never accidentally give away what a Level III hint saves for last.

  • Level I — Ultra safe: gestures at the feel of each group, with no domain names, puzzle words, or mechanism revealed
  • Level II — Warmer: names the type of thinking or knowledge area required, but stops short of the specific category
  • Level III — Mild spoilers: explains how the category works, without listing the actual puzzle words

Trap analysis and difficulty scores are our own editorial judgments, updated daily after reviewing the full board. We aim to publish before 7 a.m. Eastern time each day.

Our Principles

1
Spoiler Control is Yours
Nothing is revealed unless you tap to reveal it. You decide how much help you want.
2
Real Analysis, Not Filler
Difficulty ratings, trap word breakdowns, and category explanations — written to actually be useful.
3
Fast and Clean
No pop-ups, no interstitials. The page loads in under a second and gets out of your way.
